Arshaad Kowshall, an 18-year-old Labourer from Reliance, Essequibo Coast, found himself facing allegations of Simple Larceny, reportedly committed against Sattie Narine, a 63-year-old resident of Lot 4 Capoey Compound, Essequibo Coast. The incident, said to have occurred between November 4th and November 6th, 2023, at Anna Regina Market, Essequibo Coast, led to Kowshall being brought before Magistrate Esther Sam on Friday, March 8th, 2024. Pleading not guilty to the charge, Kowshall was granted bail in the sum of $50,000. The case has been adjourned to March 26th, 2024, for the disclosure of statements.
Meanwhile, in another legal development, Keon Norville, a 30-year-old Cattle farmer hailing from Lot 4 Vigilance, East Coast Demerara, faced a slew of charges. Norville was arrested on March 5th, 2024, and subsequently charged on March 13th, 2024, by officers from the Vigilance Police Station. The charges against him included two counts of Discharging a Loaded Firearm with Intent, contravening Section 55(a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01. The alleged victims in these incidents were identified as Kenya Stoby and Donna Simon. Norville appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded not guilty to both charges and was granted bail in the amount of $150,000 each. The case has been adjourned to April 22nd, 2024.
Additionally, Norville faced further legal action, answering to two other charges before Magistrate Schmidt at the same court. The first charge was Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm, in contravention of Section 30(a) of the Summary Jurisdiction Offence Act, Chapter 8:02, allegedly committed against Kwesi Daniels. The second charge was Possession of Ammunition without License, violating Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05. Once again, Norville pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was granted bail in the sum of $25,000 for the assault charge and $45,000 for the charge of Possession of Ammunition without License. The matter has been adjourned to April 24th, 2024.
