A taxi driver, accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in 2023, was hospitalised after allegedly stabbing the same girl on Monday afternoon in Region Two. The man reportedly consumed gasoline before being arrested by police the following day, last Tuesday.
According to reports, Police received information that the man had ingested a substance, and upon inquiry, he admitted it was gasoline. He was promptly taken to the Suddie Regional Hospital for treatment and is expected to be discharged today and is likely to face charges on Monday.
The 16-year-old girl and her sister were said to be walking along a public road when the taxi driver allegedly drove recklessly, forcing them to avoid his vehicle.
The sisters, on their way to file a police report, noticed that the suspect was following them.The man reportedly overtook the vehicle they were in and blocked its path. Armed with a knife, he approached the vehicle, prompting the driver to flee.
The suspect then stabbed the teenager, who was seated in the front passenger seat, and escaped on foot, leaving his vehicle behind.
The injured teen, suffering from seven stab wounds to her chest, arms, and shoulders, was taken to the hospital by passersby. She remains hospitalised and is listed in stable condition.
