A 27-year-old man was tossed into a canal after he was carjacked on Saturday night at Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
The victim, John Caesar, a heavy-duty machine operator residing at Timehri Cemetery Road, EBD, was attacked by two car thieves while parked near a nightclub.
According to police reports, Caesar had gone for a drink at the club and was sitting in his car with a designated driver when the assailants approached.
The vehicle, a PVV 1962, had been parked a short distance from the club, and the driver’s door was said to be left open.
Caesar recalled that two men approached, one of whom appeared to be armed, after which they held him at gunpoint, with one suspect choking him and pulling him from the car.
The men then reportedly threw him into a nearby trench/canal before fleeing with his vehicle and his mobile phone. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
