The Guyana Police Force has finally confirmed that former minister of the PPP Government Nigel Dharamlall is under investigation after yet another allegation of rape has been made against him.
Crime Chief Mr Wendell Blanhum has indicated that a formal report was made by the alleged victim to the Police at the Cove and John Police Station. “He noted that the allegations are serious and the matter is under active investigation.”
Asked if Mr. Dharamlall has been asked to report to the police. Head of the communications Unit of the Guyana Police Force Mark Ramotar responded,
“ Crime Chief said the matter is under active investigation ….and all parties will be contacted.”
The Police Force was forced to issue a statement on the matter following a statement from the Guyana Press Association expressing its concern about the lack of response from the Guyana Police Force to media queries related to the alleged sexual assault and cyberbullying against the Former Minister, Dharamlall.
