A high-level delegation from the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), which holds a 25 percent working interest in Guyana’s Stabroek Block, met with government officials yesterday to discuss potential opportunities in the gas sector.
The delegation was led by CNOOC Group’s Vice President and Chief Supervisor, Professor Yu Jing, and Vice President Yu Jin. The meeting, held at the Office of the President, focused on exploring avenues for collaboration in the gas sector and aligning CNOOC’s corporate social responsibility initiatives with the government’s developmental agenda.
According to a statement from the Office of the President, discussions were geared towards identifying ways in which CNOOC could contribute to Guyana’s energy sector while supporting the government’s broader goals for economic and social development.
Head of State, President Irfaan Ali hosted the meeting, accompanied by Prime Minister Mark Phillips, Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance and Public Service, Dr. Ashni Singh, Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, and Director of Presidential Affairs, Marcia Nadir-Sharma.
