The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has urged residents to report any incidents of oily substances seeping into their homes, following concerns raised by residents on the West Coast of Demerara.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the agency addressed reports that it had downplayed these concerns, firmly denying the allegation. The EPA confirmed receiving multiple reports and stated that it immediately dispatched investigative teams to inspect the sites and collect samples for testing.
“The Agency is still actively continuing investigations and, when completed, will notify all relevant parties. The Agency will take any action necessary based on the findings from these investigations,” the EPA said, underscoring that it is treating the issue seriously.
