The Delegation of the European Union in Guyana has announced that, starting October 21, Guyanese citizens will be able to apply for Schengen visas in Georgetown, specifically for travel to France. This new arrangement provides a more convenient option for those seeking to visit the Schengen zone, eliminating the need for applicants to travel to another country to process their visa applications.
According to an official post from the Delegation, visa application sessions will be held twice a month, with the first scheduled for October 21 and 22, 2024. Schengen visas allow non-European travellers to visit 27 member countries, including France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland, for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
To apply, Guyanese citizens must complete their applications online via the France Visas website, selecting the Suriname page. Appointments can be made online, and applicants must submit their documents in person at the Honorary Consulate of France in Subryanville, Georgetown.
Required documents include a completed France visa application form, a passport, recent photographs, supporting documents as listed on the France Visas portal, proof of payment of the application fee, and a pre-stamped FedEx envelope for the return of their passport from Suriname.
This new option simplifies the application process for Guyanese travellers planning trips to France or other Schengen countries.
