Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken and Colonel General Staff Vernon Burnette recently participated in the Regional Security System (RSS) Security Chiefs Meeting, which took place in St Kitts and Nevis. The two-day event, held from October 8th to 9th at the St Kitts Marriott Resort, gathered senior security officials from across member states to address the escalating challenges posed by transnational crime in the region.
Key topics on the agenda included emerging crime trends, the formation of gangs, illicit drug trafficking, the situation and deployments in Haiti, as well as training and operational strategies. Discussions also covered the work of the Asset Recovery Unit, policing and risk management approaches, and matters relating to strategic services and international affairs, all of which are critical to security efforts in the CARICOM region.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmed commitment from participating nations to tackle crime through strategic approaches, enhanced collaboration, and stronger networking, aimed at safeguarding the safety and well-being of the region’s population.
