Ranks from the Alberttown Police Station, this morning under the leadership of an Assistant Superintendent, conducted an operation at a ‘street party’ on Pike Street, Sophia, acting on a tip-off, where they apprehended Anthony Bumbury, a 24-year-old labourer from Block ‘F’ North Sophia.
Bumbury, who was standing on the road, was subjected to a search by the police. During the search, officers discovered an orange improvised firearm along with three 9mm rounds of ammunition on his person. When questioned about his possession of the weapon, Bumbury admitted that he did not have a firearm licence.
Following his admission, Bumbury was informed of the offence, cautioned, and arrested. He was subsequently taken to the Alberttown Police Station,
