Guyana and oil rich Saudi Arabia has taken another significant step towards formalising ties between the two countries with Head of State, President Irfaan Ali formally accepting the Letters of Credence from Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Guyana, His Excellency Faisal bin Ibrahim Ghulam.
The accreditation ceremony, on Wednesday, at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, witnessed President Ali expressing anticipation for a robust and expanding relationship between the two nations.
President Ali articulated his eagerness to foster a dynamic partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly emphasizing the exploration of bilateral trade avenues in food production, energy, and oil and gas. Highlighting the imminent establishment of a Saudi Arabian embassy in Georgetown, he underscored the abundant prospects for both countries to deepen their bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
In response, Ambassador Ghulam conveyed his readiness to collaborate effectively towards advancing the mutual agenda of Guyana and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The ceremony marked another milestone in the diplomatic relationship between the two nations, which was initially established in 2012.
