The Guyana Police Force’s Criminal Investigation Department has mobilised its newly acquired multi-million dollar forensics vehicle in the ongoing search for Joshua David, a young man who was reportedly abducted on the night of September 26, 2024. The vehicle, currently stationed at the Vigilance Police Station on the East Coast of Demerara, is expected to play a pivotal role in the investigation as authorities intensify their efforts to locate David.
On Saturday, September 28, 2024, detectives launched a major search operation in the Buxton Backlands following intelligence that David, also known by his alias ‘Bricks,’ may have been killed and buried in the area. David was allegedly abducted while purchasing food on Main Street, Georgetown, and police believe his body could be concealed in the backlands. Although a senior police official initially attempted to delay the operation until Monday, that decision was overridden, and the search commenced immediately.
The operation continued on Sunday, with senior officers and ranks from the Regional Divisions 4A and 4C scouring the Buxton Backlands for any signs of David. Five individuals have been issued wanted bulletins in connection with the abduction, intensifying the police’s pursuit for leads.
David’s disappearance is further complicated by his connection to Dominique Darrel Osborne, a relative, who is wanted by the police for his involvement in the August 24, 2024, D’Urban Street shooting. That incident claimed the lives of Anthony Havercome and Lawrence Wayne. Authorities are probing possible links between David’s abduction and Osborne’s criminal associations, though no conclusive ties have yet been made.
As the investigation progresses, the Guyana Police Force is urging anyone with information to come forward, as they continue their efforts to bring justice to those involved in this increasingly complex case.
