The Guyana Police Force (GPF) applied for an extension of detention on Monday for four suspects allegedly involved in the abduction of Joshua David, known as ‘Bricks.’
Authorities had previously issued a wanted bulletin for six individuals connected to the kidnapping, which occurred on September 26, 2024, outside the New Thriving Restaurant on Main Street, Georgetown.
The accused have been identified as 34-year-old Wayne Barker, known as ‘Onnie’; 26-year-old Aaron Alleyne, referred to as ‘Cats’; 21-year-old Davantai Mars, known as ‘Sharkie’; 32-year-old Damion Barlow, called ‘Dangles’; 28-year-old Osafo Peters; and 35-year-old Alpha Poole. Of these, five men have surrendered to police, and two have been formally charged.
Last Friday, Poole and Peters appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where they were remanded to prison on an abduction charge. The allegations assert that on September 26, 2024, on Main Street, Georgetown, Poole and Peters, alongside others, abducted David with the intent to secretly and wrongfully confine him.
The men were not required to enter a plea, and the case has been adjourned to October 11, 2024.On the same day, Barker, Alleyne, Mars, and Barlow turned themselves in to law enforcement. However, police efforts to locate David have so far been unsuccessful.
