Nicholas Singh, also known as ‘Pookie,’ a 25-year-old resident of Durban Street, Georgetown, has been charged with the murder of Natram Persaud during the course of a robbery. The offence, which occurred on December 31, 2023, at Canal #2 Polder, West Bank Demerara, is being prosecuted under Section 100(1)(c)(i) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
Singh was arrested on September 16, 2024, and appeared before Magistrate Rhonda Weever at the Wales Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where the indictable charge was read. He was not required to enter a plea and has been remanded to prison. The matter has been adjourned to October 10, 2024, for a report.
