President Dr. Irfaan Ali highlighted the robust and enduring relationship between Guyana and the United Kingdom during the official celebration of His Majesty King Charles III’s birth anniversary. The event was hosted by the British High Commissioner to Guyana, Jane Miller, last evening.
In his address, President Ali praised King Charles III for his leadership on environmental issues, notably his patronage of the Iwokrama International Centre for Rainforest Research and Development in Guyana. The President emphasised that the King’s commitment to sustainable rainforest management and climate change resilience underscores his dedication to environmental sustainability.
“Guyana is grateful for His Majesty’s deep commitment to environmental sustainability and will continue to work with the UK to ensure the protection and conservation of our natural environment,” President Ali stated.
The President also expressed optimism about strengthening economic growth, trade relations, and sustainable development initiatives with the UK.
The celebration was attended by Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips, several Cabinet ministers, government officials, and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
