Navindra Latchman, a 28-year-old taxi driver known as “Rocky,” was arrested on October 15, 2024, and has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an incident involving Akeelah Maynard.
Latchman appeared in the Charity Magistrate’s Court on October 21, 2024, where the charge was formally read to him by Magistrate Tamieka Clarke. He was not required to enter a plea at this stage and has been remanded to prison until his next court appearance on November 7, 2024.
The charge stems from allegations of an attack against Maynard, which is said to have occurred contrary to Section 103(c) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01. The case is under investigation, and further details are expected to emerge as the judicial process unfolds.
