Dear Editor,
In a no nonsense putting on notice, operatives dealing with procurement matters in state agencies, including national tender board officials, czars and clerks, have been put on notice for any skullduggery and wrong doing, as part of a review and overhaul of the procurement processes and systems.
So with this intolerant approach can we hold our breath and hope controversial and troubling contract awards, particularly in the case of the recent pump station, will see earnest, remedial, ‘putting on notice’ action taken? Or, is it, as one columnist puts it ‘a reactive measure aimed at damage control? (KN May 25).
It is eyebrow knitting, that this putting on notice approach was not taken following a similar, controversial school building contract award some time ago, and which has missed several completion extensions.
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
