WATCH: CCJ Appeal Hearing challenging ‘illegal’ PS appointments

The appellants were appointed Parliamentary Secretaries by the President of Guyana following the General Elections held in March 2020. By virtue of their appointments, they held 2 seats as non-voting members of the National Assembly. On 25 July 2023, the Court of Appeal of Guyana upheld the decision of the Chief Justice which declared that the appellants were not lawful members of the National Assembly. The appellants have appealed to the CCJ. The appeal was heard today 30 July 2024.
